The essential tools for digital nomads
It is no secret that one of the biggest challenges for digital nomads lies in organization and productivity techniques. Sometimes not having a structure or a clear dynamic can lead to not knowing how to manage time.
But don’t worry, we bring all our experience to tell you which are the best tools we have used when working digitally. Keep reading, discover them and choose the ones that best suit your style.
Google Calendar.
A free and very practical tool to have your entire agenda in the palm of your hand. Whether you need to schedule meetings as well as your own tasks, you can organize your day to day, view other people’s calendars and have reminders of your assignments.
Clouds.
Having a backup of your information and files is essential, you never know when that hard drive or usb that you’ve had for a while might get damaged. Also, saving your files in a cloud allows you to access them anytime, anywhere, you just need internet and your access. Some that we recommend are: Dropbox, Mega, Drive. And if you’re running out of space, you can buy their extra storage plans.
Hunter.io.
Do you want to contact the director of a project or send an email to a specific person but you do not have their details? Hunter.io is an email finder, you only need to type the web address of the company you are interested and it will show you the email addresses of its employees.
Slack.
If you don’t want your communication to be done through WhatsApp, not even through a business account, we suggest you use Slack, it’s a very intuitive tool to connect people and teams in the long term. You can also link Slack with other tools such as Gmail, Drive, Asana, etc.
Focus booster.
If you have trouble concentrating or keeping track of your time, what you need is to start applying the pomodoro technique. It means tomato in Italian and is based on famous clocks with that shape that were used in the past. What this technique seeks is to allocate time to work and rest, for example work 25 minutes without stopping with any distraction and rest 5.
Asana.
If you have a project where you need to work as a team, Asana is a great option. It allows you to organize the workflow efficiently and easily through tasks, columns, assignments, among others.
Evernote.
If handwriting stopped being your thing a long time ago, you’ll love Evernote. It’s a note-taking tool that will help you keep all your information in one place and be more productive.
WeTransfer.
Ideal for sending files to your team, clients or other people, it informs you if the recipient has downloaded or if the file is about to expire.
Canvas.
It solves quickly and easily any type of design you need. Of course it won’t be the same as a job done by a professional but it will get you out of more than one trouble. You can create all kinds of designs, from letters to birthday cards.
Calm.
Give yourself a moment for yourself, Calm is a platform with which you can meditate. Remember that active breaks and rest are crucial to stay productive and healthy. Prioritize your health so you can work with full energy.
Photography.
Edit your photos like a professional from your cell phone. Lightroom has a free version that allows you to use a wide variety of tools to get the best out of your photos. You can also download presets, which are predesigned light and color settings.
